How to improve your Glassdoor profile page

Maintaining a strong employer brand requires putting in the effort across all platforms. Whether it’s keeping your followers up to date with the latest news on LinkedIn, or sharing inspiring posts about your culture on Instagram, showing what goes on behind the scenes can go a long way towards strengthening your company’s public perception. Glassdoor can be another powerful tool. It gives employees, current and former, a platform to share their experiences (good and bad). Bad publicity is unavoidable, but here are a few tips to help you get ahead of the situation, and make your Glassdoor profile work for your employer brand.

Here are the 5 tips:

  • Invite your employees to write reviews.

Don't ask employees to write fake reviews on Glassdoor. Job seekers will spot them easily. Instead, encourage organic reviews by asking for feedback at key points like onboarding or anniversaries. You can also ask satisfied candidates or employees to leave reviews. If you must incentivize reviews, offer rewards but don't reward positive bias. The more reviews you have, the better candidates can understand your company culture.

  • Make sure your Glassdoor profile is up to date.

Assign someone to regularly update it. Include key details like website, location, and employee count. Highlight your company culture, describe your mission, and share photos showcasing your work environment and fun activities. Make it easy to apply by listing open positions with clear descriptions. By showcasing your company's best side, you'll leave a positive first impression with potential hires.

  • Ensure to action the feedback you receive.

Don't dismiss negative Glassdoor reviews! They can be a goldmine for improvement. Analyze them to see if you can address the issues. If not, talk it out with your team. Show employees you value their feedback by making changes when you can and explaining why you can't make others.

  • Don’t leave any reviews unanswered.

Replying to all reviews (especially the negative ones!) shows you value feedback. Address concerns (but avoid arguments). Thank reviewers and highlight plans to improve based on their comments. Replies show potential hires that you care and builds trust. They also show employees you value their input, boosting morale.

  • Promote your Glassdoor rating on social media.

Attract top talent by promoting your profile on social media! Share your high rating and Glassdoor badge across platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. Showcase your company's best side and let candidates see why you're a great place to work.
