Hey Supermums,

We know back-to-school transition can be challenging for you as parents as well as children, especially working mums. Just like you, many kids are apprehensive about starting school or going back to school. The good news is there’s a lot you can do to ease their minds and help them get ready for a new school year while balancing your work life and responsibilities.

Balancing work responsibilities with the demands of a child's new schedule can be overwhelming. But don't worry, you're not alone.

To help ease the transition and ensure a smooth start to the school year, we've compiled a list of strategies in short notes to help you stay organized and stress-free:

1. Stay in the Loop:

  • Know the Drill: Find out what your child's learning, attend school events, and monitor the school website for updates.
  • Schedule Planning: Use this knowledge to organize your schedule efficiently.

2. Connect with Your Kid:

  • Chat and Chill: Ask about their day, favorite classes, and friends.
  • Ease Anxiety: Understanding their routine can help ease your worries.

3. Safety First, Always:

  • Create a Plan: Discuss safety rules for different situations.
  • Regular Reviews: Remind them often to reinforce safety.

4. Establish a Homework Routine:

  • Set a Schedule: Designate a specific time and place for homework. It can be an hour or two before their bedtime.
  • No Distractions: Implement and enforce rules to keep them focused.

5. Encourage Extracurricular Activities:

  • Explore Interests: Talk about activities they might enjoy.
  • Balance is Key: Help them find a healthy balance between school and extracurriculars.

6. Keep Calm and Carry On

  • Positive Attitude: Avoid expressing excessive anxiety to your child. Your child will pick up on your emotions. Stay positive and confident.
  • Lead by Example: Demonstrate calmness and confidence to reassure them. Hide your worries to avoid adding to theirs.

7. Know When to Seek Help:

  • Listen to Your Gut: If you or your child experience excessive anxiety or other issues, consult a professional.
  • Normal vs. Abnormal: Understand that some anxiety is natural, but seek help when needed.

Remember, you are a supermum and you've got this! With a little planning and support, you can make this back-to-school season a breeze.
