Imprivata launches Microsoft Azure-based healthcare platform

IT security firm Imprivata has launched its Identity and Access Management (IAM) Cloud Platform in collaboration with Microsoft. The technology aims to optimise clinical workers’ time and lower costs.

The platform, which leverages the scale and security of Azure Active Directory, will address the unique challenges that healthcare customers face along the digital transformation journey. 

“We’re delighted to announce this strategic collaboration with Microsoft and to introduce the Imprivata IAM Cloud Platform, which first brings the simplicity of Tap-In and Tap-Out to the cloud, and seamlessly supports access to Microsoft cloud applications like Microsoft Office 365 and more for our 1,945 healthcare customers,” said Gus Malezis, president and CEO of Imprivata. “Furthermore, the platform leverages the existing Imprivata investments of our joint customers, enhancing the return on investment of their current and future technology investments.” 

As part of the collaboration’s first phase, Imprivata launched Healthcare Seamless SSO, an enterprise single sign-on which can be used on all shared clinical workstations and mobile devices. The solution allows employees to gain access to Office 365 or any Microsoft Azure Active Directory application by tapping their badges, eliminating the need for usernames and passwords.

Using Imprivata OneSign, Healthcare Seamless SSO can work with many applications, saving care providers an average of around 45 minutes every shift. This in turn can improve satisfaction levels and drive the adoption of electronic medical records.
