In-Person Interview

Upon securing an in-person interview, it is essential to prepare adequately.

Here are some vital tips to consider before entering the interview room, setting the stage for a successful interaction.

  • Ensure you are aware of the time, date, location, directions, and the name of the person you will meet.
  • Take a professional portfolio binder that can hold an 8 1⁄2 x 11 pad of paper. Avoid carrying a large, flashy notebook or briefcase.
  • Bring extra copies of your resume and any other relevant documents, such as a design portfolio or hand samples, if applicable to the position.
  • Thoroughly research the company, including their website and any relevant news articles.

  • Dress to impress in business attire, not business casual. Pay attention to details such as shined shoes, sewn hems, and properly buttoned clothing.
  • Be able to articulate your personal accomplishments, statistics, and trends of performance over time.
  • Memorize five reasons why the client should hire you- emphasizing the value you can bring to the organization.
  • Memorize five reasons why the position is attractive to you and why you would be well-suited for it.
  • Be prepared to discuss your biggest weaknesses, how you have overcome them, and what you learned from those experiences.
  • Demonstrate how you plan and organize your time by discussing your daily, weekly, and monthly planning strategies.
