Resources for Accessibility Awareness: GAAD
Thursday 16th May marked the 13th Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD).
In 2024, Web AIM analysed one million home pages for accessibility issues revealing that 95.9% of home pages have at least one WCAG 2.0 failure, this improved slightly from 96.3% in 2023. These findings underscore the significant gap in digital accessibility.
From both a civil rights and a business perspective, people with disabilities are underserved by today’s digital products. By promoting accessibility, we can break down barriers, bridge the digital divide, and collaborate to create a society that embraces diversity and equal opportunities for everyone!
Our partners at Recite Me have created an insightful free course, "An Introduction to Accessibility and Digital Inclusion." This course offers a comprehensive overview of the principles and practices of accessibility and digital inclusion, covering essential topics such as web accessibility standards, assistive technologies, and designing inclusive digital experiences.

In this episode of Inclusive Disruption, Charlotte is joined by Kay Allen OBE, the Campaign Director for Age Relevance and strategic advisor for Purple Space. They discuss the importance of age diversity and inclusion in the workplace, and how organisations can adapt to the era of longevity.
Kay emphasises the need for organisations to move away from standardisation and one-size-fits-all policies, and instead empower line managers to find solutions that are right for their teams. They also discuss the value of listening to different perspectives and evolving policies based on evidence and feedback.
This episode is packed with actionable strategies and thought-provoking ideas that you won't want to miss.
