OSBP Promotes Cybersecurity and Small Business Engagement at MDA Conference
Mr. Derrick D. , Office of Small Business Programs (OSBP) Associate Director for Industrial Cybersecurity, delivered the keynote address on July 16 at the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Small Business Conference in Huntsville, Ala. Mr. Davis's remarks highlighted OSBP's mission to engage small businesses to expand the defense industrial base and the most recent "A" FY23 Small Business Procurement Scorecard rating from the U.S. Small Business Administration . Ms. Trish Martinelli (CTR) from the OSBP Industry Engagement Team, briefed attendees on Project Spectrum , the OSBP-supported comprehensive platform for small businesses that provides the tools and training needed to increase cybersecurity awareness and maintain compliance in accordance with DoD contracting requirements.
The event also featured speakers from MDA Small Business Professionals, the U.S. Small Business Administration , UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY , and others.
The purpose of the MDA Small Business Programs Conference was to connect business contractors with opportunities to support the MDA mission. In addition, the conference also provided valuable information and opportunities for matchmaking with MDA prime contractors, government representatives and networking with other small businesses.
Defense Innovation Board Summer Meeting Focused on Scaling Innovation
On July 17, the Defense Innovation Board held its Summer Public Meeting at the Pentagon where they focus was reviewing the latest recommendations to scale innovation at the Department. The Board discussed findings and recommendations from two studies initiated in January, "Aligning Incentives to Drive Faster Tech Adoption" and "Optimizing Innovation Cooperation with Allies and Partners." Immersive Program Arms DoD, Builds Acquisition Professionals' Innovation Skills
The DoD is looking for the next cohort of acquisition professionals seeking to expand their careers with the tools and insights needed to harness commercial technology innovation. Applications for the fiscal year 2025 Immersive Commercial Acquisition Program — a 12-month immersive fellowship offered in collaboration between the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) and Defense Acquisition University — are open through early August.
