Issues around User Consent
Moonpull was advising a publisher on the tracking of one of its advertisers. The advertiser requires the user to give consent for the first-party tracking to be initiated.
The advertiser then passed the ‘affiliate network identifier ’ within the url on buttons to other links from the landing page
This worked satisfactorily for buttons. However, if the user went to the search box, the search results weren’t tagged appropriately, so any sales resulting from this path were not first party tracking.
Currently, these sales will be picked up by third party methods, but after Chrome’s cookie deprecation in a few months’ time they will most likely see the publisher unrewarded for the referral.
The detailed output in a Moonpull Audit Report enables a publisher to have a more informed conversation with the advertiser or their program manager to effect a resolution.
