It's the little things that matter.

It's the little things that matter.

Seriously, I have found the same principles in life that make for successful relationships also make for successful UX on the interwebz. It's all about paying attention to the little things, putting people first and investing a little extra time with a person.

In the world of app-building and websites, these are referred to as micro-interactions: small acts that delight the user. Making time over coffee with your best friend, giving advice and ultimately your approval are skills that can also be translated in how you handle microinteractions on your site.

Question: What kind of relationship are you cultivating with your users? Are they friends or distant acquaintances? Do you make them feel "at home" by encouraging and coaching them along the way or are you providing a sweaty-palmed handshake and an aloof one-size-fits-all approach?

In Nick Babich's latest article from UXplanet.com, you can learn more about:

  • What microinteractions are
  • Why they work and
  • How to identify opportunities to insert them in your next project.

Delight your users and they will come back to you...just like that old friend that enjoys reconnecting.
