Remove the roadblocks
I received a job alert from Indeed regarding a position with Google. Aside from thinking there is no way I could afford to buy a home in Sunnyvale, I did find the "About the job" description very useful as it sums up, in my opinion, what a Business Systems Analyst does and creates a vision for the team.
For the team
"When things get in the way of progress, the Business Systems Integration team steps in to remove those roadblocks. The team identifies time-consuming internal processes and builds solutions that are reliable and scalable enough to work within the size and scope of the company."
I modified the next section to be more generic. As an Analyst.
You listen to and translate customer needs into high-level technical specifications, design and develop recommended systems and consult with executives to ensure smooth implementation. Whether battling large system processes or leveraging homegrown products, you help customers work faster and more efficiently.
Personally, I strive for this every day and feel all of IT should do the same. After all, we have a job because of the customer. We should never be the rock in the road.
P.S. One other thing I loved from the description is a new take on the old break some eggs saying.
"We're proud to be engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them."
