Lessons from the TEDxGateway Future of Healthcare Salon

Lessons from the TEDxGateway Future of Healthcare Salon

Few lessons from the TEDxGateway Future of Health Salon supported by Abbott and curated by Yashraj Akashi

1) Scientifically our body doesn't know the difference between real laughter and fake laughter. So if you're feeling low or stressed you should just fake laugh. It's been proven to reduce stress, de clutter your mind. It does this because it drives oxygen to different parts of the body. Fake laughing is also ok. To start with.

2) It's a World of different people doing work across professions.

Mathmeticians are doing medical jobs to figure out exactly where to attack a cancer and fix it basis predictive analytics.

A Doctor was working with the government in Kenya. The nation jumped it's rank in the livelihood index from 137 globally to 92 globally in 2 years. She was leading the project with their President. Her analysis was that the government was sick and she essentially used the approach of a Doctor to make this sick patient (which was the government machinery) healthy using the principles of medicine.

3) Voice can be used as a diagnostic tool. How you sound and the bio markers of the same can be used to diagnose medical conditions.

They've been recording the soundwaves of patients with specific illnesses and monitoring them to figure long term data trends on how they sound.

The idea germinated from the 'mother'. A mom always knows basis how her kid is sounding what may be affecting her. In effect these guys are doing the same. And then blowing it out of proportion.

4) an Israeli speaker was asked - why are Israelis are so innovative.

His answer

i) In general they are never satisfied and they want to keep doing better

ii) They don't like taking orders. That's why such few people take up jobs. Their largest company isn't that large as a result

iii) They have to go to the Army at 18. There they learn a 'risky' life. You could be dead any day. So they've got risk programmed into them.

Here's the team that put the Salon together

They have TEDxGateway Women coming up in December 2019 and there's the Flagship TEDxGateway event in February 2020.
