For the past several weeks, I've been hosting a weekly event called Strange Magic Sundays , which is a space designed to help us reconnect, remember and root into ourselves and our souls through movement, music, and magic.

Last Sunday's theme - let go, kindly - was inspired by a conversation that my dear friend Carley Marcelle has been facilitating for the last several weeks focused on Awakening Extraordinary Creative Leadership .

Why do we need to let go?

It's easy to oversaturate, overburden and over-schedule ourselves.

Let's be honest, we do it all the time.

When it comes to adding new goals or intentions to our already-full plates, it can be very easy to let those new items slide off the top, get pushed to the back burner, or to quickly forget that we even wanted them in the first place.

I'm writing this in January, so it's likely that you may have selected a guide word or intention for the year, or maybe you’ve set some goals for yourself.

And it's also likely that you've noticed that whenever you set a new intention, goal or resolution, you often find yourself in “the dance”, where you fluctuate between your old ways and new ways of being, thinking and doing.

When we want to change something about ourselves or our lives, it's important that we clear out the clutter and create S P A C E.

Inside of that space, we can find creativity, energy, and possibilities that we might easily overlook or miss if our cups were already overflowing.

Letting go, kindly

So, let's focus on cutting cords, clearing away the clutter and creating SPACE — not so that we can simply fill it back up with new stuff, thoughts, and projects, but so that we can breathe, move, flow and BE inside of the pauses, the emptiness, the void.

In self-care, we talk a lot about filing up our cups, but in order to receive, we have to have room in our cups to be poured into!

So, this is an invitation to consider, clear away and release anything that you are carrying that is no longer serving you, that you no longer want in your life, that is weighing you down and depleting you — anything that is sapping energy from you physically, mentally, emotionally, relationally, spiritually — anything that is making the path cluttered and claustrophobic and unclear.

Pause & reflect

What are you carrying? What are you holding onto?

Let me say it another way. What are you trying to control or change?

  • Are there ideas that you’ve had that you want to do something with SOMEDAY?
  • Is your physical space cluttered?
  • Passion projects left unstarted or unfinished clogging your creative channel?
  • A pile of books purchased but unread?
  • A work project you’ve been procrastinating that you secretly know you will never complete?
  • Relationships that no longer serve you or people you have fallen out of touch with?
  • Inauthentic ways of being or performing?
  • Situations that have you hide, dim or mute yourself?
  • Dynamics that have you trapped in cycles that keep you playing small?
  • A career that keeps you stuck when you dream of something different?
  • Stories and beliefs that linger in your mind?
  • Stress and trauma — yours or that of others — that is stored in the cells of your body?
  • Habits, patterns and behaviors that you’d like to change?

Carley and I are chatting on LinkedIn Live about the importance of letting go to create space.

Dance it out!

I've designed a dance journey to help you summon and release everything that you need to let go of so that you can create space for your transformation.

You're going to summon all of these things, thank them all for the role they’ve played in your life, and then you’ll let them go...KINDLY.

It’s like a little Marie Kondo action for our souls.

What to expect during the dance journey:

  • As always, we’ll begin with a few songs that allow us to sink into our bodies and really connect with the music and movement
  • As you dance, I encourage you to call forward and summon everything that you want to let go of.
  • I want you to visualize it accumulating physically in the room around you so that when you are finished dancing, you can feel the energetic presence of all your “STUFF” around you.
  • We’ll close with the song “ALLOWING”. When this song comes on, take a seat, slow down, close your eyes and go within.
  • I’ll invite you to lie down and we’ll end our journey with a guided visualization to help us all let go kindly.
  • You may wish to journal, sit in contemplation, or perhaps even take a luxurious bath afterward.

When you are finished dancing, find a quiet place to lie down and listen to this guided visualization (scroll down to the bottom of the page for the visualization) designed to help you take everything that you summoned during your journey and let it go, kindly.

I'd love to hear

What came up for you during the dance journey or the guided visualization?

What are you letting go of?

What are you creating space for?

I hope you enjoyed this article (and that you'll consider coming to the next Strange Magic Sunday ).

To your magic,

Breean
