Welcome to Another Edition of Global Advisor Corner

Dear Readers,

Thank you again for joining us for the latest edition of #GlobalAdvisorCorner.

We are thrilled by the warm reception of our first edition, and your continued support fuels our mission to spotlight the incredible work of global advisors shaping a more inclusive world.

In this edition, we are honored to feature the remarkable Lia Stoll—an amazing #writer and disability advocate based in Basel, #Switzerland. Lia's journey is deeply rooted in her personal experiences with disabilities, both her own and those of her loved ones.

As the founder of #DisabilityWriter, Lia has dedicated her career to creating content that empowers businesses to embrace #accessibility and #inclusion. Her work extends beyond writing; she’s an accredited accessibility consultant, a committed volunteer, a global advisor for #BillionStrong, and a board member of Wheel Chariot. Her compelling social media work raises awareness and drives meaningful conversations around accessibility and inclusion.

Join us as we delve into Lia’s inspiring journey and learn more about her work and vision for the future. We are excited to share her insights and hope her story will connect with you as much as it has with us.

Q1: Please tell us more about your lived experiences with disabilities. How have these experiences influenced your life?

A1: My first experience with disability was with Petro, a blind man who wished to have a guide dog. I was only six years old, but this experience shaped my life. Later on, as a teacher for blind and low-vision people and as co-founder of Lara Guide Dog School, I saw how society shamelessly excluded people with disabilities and realized how difficult it is to change this mindset.

This experience solidified when my son was diagnosed with a disability and then with my diagnosis. Suddenly, it felt like the world was too far behind in embracing disability inclusion.

Q2: Why do you believe in the Billion Strong movement? What is your hope for our global movement?

A2: Billion Strong is a movement that goes beyond disability inclusion. It’s a heartbeat bringing disabled people together to defy society's limits, collaborate, and elevate each other! It’s the backbone of our triumph because we are our vision.

Q3: What does inclusion mean to you?

A3: To me, inclusion is about society accepting everyone for who they truly are and respecting their human rights. And this includes people with disabilities because disability is human.

Q4: Tell us about your work, mission, projects, or hopes for inclusion and accessibility.

A4: In 2019, I decided to take my experiences on accessibility and inclusion and dive into a much-beloved career transition. Content writing. I founded Disability Writer, and now I create content for B2B and SaaS, empowering disability awareness, accessibility, and inclusion.

I’m also an accredited partner at Access4you, which audits built environments for accessibility. I volunteer as a global advisor for Billion Strong and am an advisory board member of Wheel Chariot.

My mission is to encourage and empower businesses to see disability inclusion as the right thing to do.

Q5: What advice would you give to people living with disabilities around the world?

A5: To join us. Join Billion Strong. Let your voice be heard. That’s exactly how we’ll achieve disability inclusion!

Q6: What are the possibilities for inclusion and accessibility for all humans, including those with disabilities?

A6: Imagine a place where you can participate in every aspect of life. Imagine a place where you can be heard no matter you’re race, gender, sexual orientation, and, yes, disability. Imagine a place where you can change the future in the right direction. A future that’s accessible, inclusive, and sustainable for all.

Q7: We proudly use the hashtag #WeAreBillionStrong. Why is it important for our community to be discoverable and to support each other?

A7: Reaching our goal is a collaborative endeavor. It’s an effort from all of us. When we show up, we support and inspire each other to achieve our goals.

As we wrap up this edition of Global Advisor Corner, we sincerely thank all our readers for your continued support and engagement.

Your enthusiasm for these stories of inclusion and advocacy motivates us to keep sharing the incredible work of our global advisors.

Lia Stoll's story is a powerful testament to dedicated individuals' impact in promoting disability inclusion. We hope her journey has resonated with you as much as it has with us. We remain committed to highlighting the voices making a difference in our global community as we progress.

Thank you for joining this movement. We look forward to sharing stories that drive change and foster a more inclusive world.

Until next time.
