Life in Covid Times
Day 12 #WFH - Yes I am counting! The initial few days (almost a week) was the hardest I have felt in the decade plus work life. The adjustment to the new work reality and the feeling of loss of normalcy was not an easy feeling to get accustomed too. But once the acceptance set-in there has been a series of realizations that has led to a lot of learning. To start with:
1. Pause & Reconnect - Friends and family I felt I have been "in touch" with when I really was not. Few video calls later, I realized I am seeing some of these faces after years! A fun quiz with the team led to the realization a lot needs to be still learnt about each one of them. Work-in-progress already and am excited at the prospects of this.
2. Never Say Never - To everyone who said cant hire persons with disability because work from home was not possible or cannot reduce carbon footprint because work travel is paramount, it is definitely time to self-reflect! This virus has taught us a new way of life and pushed to re-engineer an otherwise reluctant group of people.
3. Re-learning and re-inventing - The more I learn about the situation, stronger my belief that we will not go back to our usual work styles after this gets over. Is there an opportunity to reinvent therefore? How can we look at our work from a fresh perspective and get energized by the idea of it all.
Everything new seems hard at first maybe it is the same with this situation. And while we all try to adjust to this new reality, let's remember the way to fight this global pandemic is literally to "Keep Calm and Carry On".
