LinkedIn Adopts C2PA Standard

LinkedIn Adopts C2PA Standard

I’m excited to share that starting today content containing the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity’s industry-leading “Content Credentials” technology (C2PA) will be automatically labelled on LinkedIn. This will include AI-generated content containing C2PA. Digital information is shaping our lives now more than ever and we recognize how important content authenticity and transparency are to you. We’re committed to fostering a trusted experience so everyone can accurately identify AI-generated images and video. We’ve also committed to implementing Responsible AI principles and keeping LinkedIn focused on bringing AI products to market in ways that expand economic opportunity for all.

As we begin ramping Content Credentials on LinkedIn you'll begin seeing the “Cr” icon on images and videos that contain C2PA metadata. Click the icon, and you'll be able to trace the origin of the AI-created media, including the source and history of the content, and whether it was created or edited by AI.

We’re adding this level of transparency to help members harness the power of generative AI without being misled.

The first place you’ll see the Content Credentials icon is on your LinkedIn feed, and we’ll work to expand our coverage to additional surfaces, including ads. By providing a verifiable trail of where content originates from and whether it was edited, C2PA helps keep digital information reliable, protect against unauthorized use, and create a transparent, secure digital environment for creators, publishers, and members.

More information about our work here is in our C2PA Help Center content. You can find out more about C2PA and its standard on its website.

This is a significant step forward in building trust in this social network. The big challenge is to extend it to every part of digital content, from its creation to its distribution through other channels on the internet.
