Mathura true to its name is the madhur-like cherished birthplace of Krishna. Vrindhavan, of course, is a childhood home of Krishna. As a devotee of Lord Krishna, I visualise from a down-south City - far off from Capital of Bharath, how the preparatory works are being undertaken at Mathura and Vrindhavan to welcome the arrival of Kunju Krishnan (a little child) tonight? Floodlike gathering of pilgrims and tourists gathering there to participate in rituals like the shobha yatra - an amazing procession, spcial bhajans and captivating dance performances like Rasleela , etc. and other bhakthi-filled menu are sure to fill the yearning devotees thereby creating an atmosphere full of joy and devotion.


At down south, with His Blessings, many have multifold art of celebrating Sri Krishna Jenmashtami in myriad ways. Albeit Lord Govind spent a major portion of his life in the Vrindhavan, Gokulam and Dwaraka, the blue-hued (Neela Vannak Kannan) deity does find much adoration in our hearts too. Vittal Pindi is the divine play being undertaken in parts of Karnataka by Huli Vesha dancers akin to Raasleela which Lord performed with Radha and other Gopis of Vrindhavan.

In Taminadu and Andhra Pradesh, devout people prepare murukku, thattai, seeedai, then kuzhal, thirattup paal (solid milk form),etc. at homes with full of devotion and vrath-like and offer them to the image of Lord Krishna. Children of various ages are getting a blessed makeover with Krishna's face-like with a flute on their hands and ready-made Panchakacham-styled silk dhoti surrounding their waits. Krishna Bhajans, Dhivya Naama celebrations, chanting of Bhagavad Gita etc. are the main ingredients of the celebration menu tonight at mandirs, mutts, houses, etc.
