"Luck and Good Connections"
"Luck and good connections" was what I wrote in the chat. This was in response to a question posed by one of the attendees during a recent nationwide Zoom Call this week. It was towards the end of the 60-minute Zoom gathering when I posted my cryptic "Luck and good connections" into the chat. It was in response to a question posed at the halfway or 30-minute mark.
I would have sent it sooner.
But...
Sometimes it takes me a bit of time consolidating my thoughts to complicated, global and open-end questions. In this case, it took me almost a full half hour to think about and respond to the question:
"How can we bring about greater change in the field of health and physical education at the state level?"
When I sent my "luck and good connections" answer it went to all 75 folks on the call. The call was organized by SHAPE America and co-hosted by the Society of State Leaders of Health and Physical Education. For those of you who may not know, there is a group of good folks generically called "The Society" or the Society of State Leaders of Health and Physical Education.
Having been a past long-time member of The Society, past Board Member of SHAPE America and the current Executive Director of NC SHAPE, I am often invited to these meetings to learn, grow and share.
However, I was surprised that when it was all said and done that "luck and good connections" was all I could say on the matter.

But it is true, at least for me.
For I really believe that in order to bring about greater change in your school, in your school district, in your state or country it is all about luck and good connections.
With this in mind, I would like to invite you to the best connected group of health and physical education teachers I know. They will all be at the upcoming 2024 National Physical Education Institute (#PEInstitute24) in Asheville this summer on July 25th & 26th.
Won't you become a part of our ever-growing collection of lucky connectors?
