The magic of the timeless tune : continues its winning spree world over

I had an opportunity to listen to Veena recital of Vidwan Mrs Bhagyalakshmi Chandrasekharan playing on her Saraswathi Veena for a unique English tune, I got to understand immdtly that experts in music are doing their best to mould strings of veena to bless us with melodies of any language. I forgot the world for certain moments as soon as she was playing for the tune of Hollywood movie Come September released six decades back, 1961 to be exact. This melody has got a mesmerising effect cutting across continental lines.

Come September is a romantic film in which Rock Hudson has paired with Gina Lollobrigida, (like (Late)T R Rajakumari of Kollywood), the Hollywood dream girl of those days.. Before going into the history of such amazing tune, let me remind that Dr. Radhakrishnan, Dada Bhai Naoroji, VO Chidambaranar, Swami Sivananda, Kalki, Leo Tolstoy, Vinobaji, Perarignar Anna, Periyar, Prime Minister Modi, M S. Subbulakshmi, Lalgudi G Jayaraman, Srinivasa Shastri, Manmohan Singh, Mata Amirtanandamayi are some of the great people born during the month of September. .SEPTEMBER is the ninth month of the English month. If we count letters in the month, we end with nine letters. During earlier years when Roman calender was followed, the calender had only ten months - from March to December. So September was naturally placed as the seventh month. Hollywood film "Come September" took the world by storm.A rich young man had a luxurious villa and guest house in a foreign country. . He goes there during September every year and spends his holidays happily.That particular year, he turned up in the month August itself, before which the rich man seemed to have already arranged to be taken care of by a caretaker. The care taker thought that the owner would come in September only and therefore did turn it into a hotel and rented out to somebody... this is how the story goes.

In 1966, the story of this movie seemed to have reshaped in the name and style of ANBE VAA, title of the Tamil movie, starring Dr. MGR, Nagesh etc. which carried lovely songs like Love Birds, Love Birds, Thakka Thimi Thaa...and committed comedy sequences .and subsequently it became box office hit.

Not surprisingly, Come September tune is still being celebrated all over the world with its being adorned with fresher and youthful look, as if it has been released in September ever year. .

This music got its migration into many languages like Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. The song Nazrein Mili Dil Dhadka..." had been tuned with this background music only which was well received by Bollywood.   Sanjay Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit  have acted for this dance sequence in the Hindi film Raja.  Various jazz groups have done  20-25 songs related to this Come September tune.        

Incidentally, the month September carries in its shoulders days like Coconut Day, Teacher's Day, Hindi Divas, Engineer's Day, Tourism Day etc. World Heart Day falls on 29th September only.
