For Manchester Events Space that’s UP there, zoom to Rabbit in the Moon!

As an events agency in Manchester Make Events regularly source venues for our clients, whether it’s conference venues for 1000 delegates or something really spectacular for a smaller number of guests.

Gary Neville’s GG Hospitality has brought us Hotel Football and the National Football Museum with their hearty yet exciting event catering. When GG recently took over the old Urbis restaurant at the top of the National Football Museum in Manchester with their latest offering Rabbit in the Moon, we needed to see if this would be a venue fit for our client base of the North’s biggest corporate names.

Rabbit in the Moon is available for private hire (depending on the event and day) for up to 40 people. I would recommend this for a high-end networking dinner; sales incentive dinner or a leadership or executive team event.

So here are 5 things we loved about Rabbit in the Moon:

1.   The Entrance - as you approach the building the large black front door is cleverly branded with the logo; however, you are not sure whether it will open until it slides to the left to reveal an uber cool foyer with chilled music and contemporary David Bowie artwork. For a private event, we suggest hosts outside to meet and greet your guests.

2.   The Cocktails - all mixed in house using vacuum distillation. The cocktail menu was designed by famous cocktail consultant Matt Whiley and it doesn’t disappoint. We tried the "Apple" cocktail which is salted caramel apple, sesame and sparkling wine. Make sure you try it!

3.   The Décor – the theme is out of this world enhanced by the spacemen vases around the venue filled with fresh lilies, such a magic touch. Pillars around the room are painted to look like the moon's surface. This theming could be incorporated into any pre-event communications to set the tone.

4.   The Food - if you are a foodie you HAVE to try this for yourself. The thought and attention to detail that has gone into each dish is incredible. Michael O'Hare, Chef Patron of Michelin starred The Man Behind the Curtain and now Creative Director of GG Hospitality, is the genius behind this menu. With dishes called Rabbit Ears, Birds Nest Soup and one of our favourites the Electric Lime Leaf; there is a Rabbit in the Moon incorporated into each dish. It was a bit like “where's wally?” trying to spot the rabbit. It is important therefore that you select this venue for the right audience and ensure dietary administration is at its finest.

5.   The Experience - we enjoyed wine pairing with our meal and every single dish and every single glass of wine was explained to us with the most intense detail. We were told how to eat the dish, either with our fingers, to the handle to knock it back into our mouths, with a spoon or with chopsticks. The ingredients and cooking method were explained to us along with the origin of each wine and why the particular wine was chosen to enhance that dish. We love understanding an experience like this. When dealing with clients that are used to that high level of fine dining Rabbit in the Moon offers something different that is bound to surpass guests’ expectations.

We will certainly be putting this venue forward for smaller gatherings who are flexible with days early on in the week. We really feel this would work well for a leadership dinner with a speaker – Gary Neville would be a great choice.
