Massachusetts Speaker Pro Tempore Patricia Haddad to accept the Outstanding Achievement Award at the 2016 IPF

Following the passing of the Massachusetts Energy Diversity Act (Bill H.4568) in early August, offshore wind has taken another step toward becoming a truly viable energy option within the United States. The Business Network for Offshore Wind praised this development, stating, “This landmark legislation creates the demand required for businesses to make investments in the emerging offshore wind market, which will provide numerous supply chain opportunities and thousands of jobs.”

Massachusetts Speaker Pro Tempore Patricia A. Haddad will be in attendance at the 2016 IPF and will receive the Outstanding Achievement Award for her outstanding leadership, inspiration, unwavering perseverance and significant contribution to the expansion of offshore wind in the United States. The Network is proud to honor Speaker Pro Tempore Haddad. Her leadership in spearheading the Massachusetts Energy Diversity Act through the MA State Legislature has set the U.S. on a course for commercial-scale development of offshore wind. With this legislation, she has helped create the birth of a new industry in the United States.

Ms. Haddad has served more than 16 years in the Massachusetts House of Representatives and represents the people of Dighton, Somerset, Swansea and Taunton. She has served on a variety of committees including Human Services and Elderly Affairs, Health Care, Medicaid, Natural Resources and Agriculture, Rules, Ethics and Ways and Means. Haddad served two terms as Chairwoman of the Joint Committee on Education and prior to her recent appointment as Speaker Pro Tempore, she was Assistant Majority Whip.
