MedTech World Dubai 2024 Startup Pitch Competition

This week's "Weekly Demo Day Rundown," took me global to the MedTech World Dubai 2024 Startup Pitch Competition.

MedTech World is a series of international premier events and conferences focused on enabling innovation and investments within the healthcare industry, leading to the yearly flagship MedTech Malta Conference.

This event showcased five startups with cutting-edge solutions in healthcare and health technology. Each startup was given 4 minutes to present and 3 minutes of Q&A with the judges.

For the first time at a demo day, the audience was let in on how the judges would be scoring the event. Each startup was ranked from 1-10 in 4 main areas, Technology/Product, Founder and the Team, Market Fit, and Revenue Model.

The highest score advanced to the next MedTech World event in Barcelona.

Pitching Founders

• CEO Naif Algedeebi from CLINLIA - Redefining clinical research with a laser focus on Saudi Arabia's ambitious Vision 2030.
• CEO & Co-founder Dimitris Neocleous from iMe - Your ultimate health companion, integrating wellness, fitness, and personalized guidance for a healthier lifestyle.
• CMO Carine Goldman and CEO Mariam Alfalasi from ezMedSoft - The cornerstone of efficient medical information management since 1989.
• 🎉 Winner 🎉 - CEO Andrew Ortega-Verdaguer from IntelVasc Inc - Revolutionizing proactive cardiovascular care with groundbreaking biosensor technology.
• CEO Sheena Pirbhai from Stress Point Health - Unlocking the power of digitized Neurofeedback therapy for emotional brain health.

Key Takeaways

• Global Problems - While I've primarily focused on startups based in the USA, this was a great reminder that global problems need global solutions.
• Judge Q&A - This continues to be my favorite aspect of these Demo Days. The judges asked pointed questions that reshaped my understanding of each company. Knowing their scoring system was a nice added bonus for this event.
• Videos - While the founder giving a strong elevator pitch is essential for success, a short video within the presentation added tremendous value to many of the founders. This is a great way to "show me" what their products do and allow the founders to take a much needed breath during their pitch.
