Meet the Team: Henry

Tell us about your career and how you ended up joining Titan Airways.

My journey in aviation started by studying for a bachelor’s degree in aviation management at Buckinghamshire New University. After completing my studies, I began my career at NAVBLUE, Airbus' Flight Operations software subsidiary, working with navigation databases and EFB solutions. During this time, I became very curious and interested in the work being carried out by those using these solutions at their respective airlines so decided it was time to experience life from the operational side! I moved to easyJet to join their EFB team before starting at Titan around four months ago now.

Can you tell me a little bit more about your day-to-day role at Titan?

As the Flight Operations Technical Services Manager, I am responsible for managing and administering the technical support services required to facilitate line operations here at Titan. This focuses on our electronic flight bag (EFB) which replaces paper and allows our crews to consult manuals, checklists, navigational charts and airfield briefings, as well as perform performance and load sheet calculations. This involves providing end user support, liaising with our vendors, monitoring use of applications to ensure compliance and publishing data update packages amongst other duties.

What advice would you give to anyone looking to pursue a career similar to yours?

It's important to get involved with as many industry bodies as you can. For example, with Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) membership you can gain access to conferences and lectures held both virtually and in-person and receive their monthly AEROSPACE magazine to your front door. Doing so will also allow you to build your network, connecting with industry professionals who are sure to provide valuable advice and guidance.

Have there been any particular highlights since starting your career at Titan?

Travelling to Bangkok to attend training on the performance tool we use to generate data updates to publish to our crew - it was highly informative and certainly made a change from going to Toulouse! There will also be the opportunity to attend industry conferences and user forums in the near future which I know will help us to continue to improve the services we provide.

What makes Titan stand out as a company compared to other places you’ve worked?

Mainly the fact that Titan has a close-knit and unique operational environment where things can change in an instant. There is also the opportunity to continuously learn and develop new skills in coordination with other departments and it is incredibly valuable to draw upon the knowledge of experienced colleagues.
