Meet YoonSeo Lee, Field Application Engineer specializing in Automotive Memory Solutions at Samsung Semiconductor Europe
Today we caught up with Yoonseo Lee , Field Application Engineer for Automotive Memory Solutions at #SamsungSemiEurope. YoonSeo joined Samsung Semiconductor in 2021 and today she shares her thoughts on her latest projects, what drew her to the company and what it’s like to work at Samsung Semiconductor Europe.
How long have you been with Samsung Semiconductor, and what’s your current role like?
I joined Samsung Semiconductor in 2021 in our Device Solutions HQ in Korea assigned to Automotive DRAM product planning. Last year I had the opportunity of going abroad, I now cover the position of Field Application Engineer, I provide technical support for DRAM and Storage products, collaborating closely with Tier 1 suppliers and automotive OEMs.
Think of me as the bridge between Samsung Semiconductor’s cutting-edge memory technologies and our customers’ unique needs. My job is to ensure seamless integration of our solutions into advanced automotive systems. Whether it’s troubleshooting challenges or advising on product specifications, I help our customers build the vehicles of tomorrow.
I’m also deeply involved in tracking emerging trends, like the growing need for high-bandwidth memory to power AI-driven applications in cars. The feedback I gather from customers doesn’t just stop with refining current products—it also helps shape the next generation of memory solutions.
Why did you to apply to the Global Mobility Program (G.M.P)?
I wanted to broaden my perspective by diving into the European automotive ecosystem. It’s a region that sets global benchmarks in reliability and performance. I also wanted to develop my cross-cultural communication skills—something that’s absolutely vital when you’re working in a global, fast-moving industry like ours.
I had two main goals when I applied. First, I wanted to sharpen my technical problem-solving skills by addressing the specific needs of European customers. Second, I hoped to broaden my perspective by learning about different approaches to engineering, innovation, and customer engagement. In short, I wanted to become a better engineer and prepare myself to lead in future global roles.

How has the program shaped you, both professionally and personally?
It’s been a transformative experience. On the technical side, I’ve expanded my knowledge beyond DRAM to include Storage solutions. This broader expertise allows me to tackle a wider range of challenges for our automotive customers.
I’ve also learned so much about the evolution of automotive systems, especially in areas like autonomous driving and electrification. These technologies demand incredibly advanced memory solutions, and being part of that journey is thrilling.
On a personal level, working in Europe has given me a deeper appreciation for cross-cultural collaboration. The innovative spirit here has pushed me to think more creatively and adapt quickly to new situations. It’s boosted my confidence in my ability to drive meaningful advancements in automotive technology on a global scale.
What excites you most about your work?
I’m especially passionate about the intersection of hardware and software. Memory technology plays a pivotal role in unlocking the potential of AI and machine learning in vehicles. Of course, there are some challenges we need to overcome to achieve smarter autonomous vehicles, but I’m excited about shaping the direction of future automotive memory technology. I firmly believe the possibilities in this field are endless.
This program has been a great opportunity to deepen my expertise, forge strong relationships with industry leaders, and get firsthand experience with the challenges driving innovation in automotive tech.
What’s next for you?
I’m looking forward to continuing this journey—learning, growing, and contributing to the future of technology. The automotive industry is evolving rapidly, and I’m excited to play a part in shaping what comes next.
