I'm Wendy of Wiseman Integrative, home of Happier Healthier Humans taming the tensions of modern living with simple health strategies to move better, feel better, live better so that you enjoy more energy for doing the things you love.
Healthy doesn't have to be complicated!
These weekly tips will show you the way!
How moving is your life? How are you moving through? How much is life moving you? How much are you moving through life each day?
Notice how if you aren't moving or making progress or feeling moved you feel like your life is missing something?
Life requires movement.
Breathing and circulation and digestion are essential movement processes.
They are also all movement processes that are improved by more movement.
At a cellular level, biologically, physically.... movement is required for life.
Mentally, emotionally, spiritually...movement is required for growth.
Without movement life becomes stagnant, congeals, begins to decay.
Is that how you're feeling today?
Do you often just shove aside that stiff sticky -often painful- restricted feeling thinking you're...
"getting older" "worn out" "too tense" "stressed mess" "out of shape"
Is that why you sit so much and move so little? 😕
You know you feel better when you move your body.
When we feel stiff we stretch and shrug to move and massage the tension away.
Are you moving enough throughout the day?
You know you feel better when you laugh and play.
So why do you deny yourself those pleasures anyway?
Are you just too tired, worn out from working so hard, stressed because you.... (insert EXCUSES here) 👀
Did you see last week's newsletter directing attention to sleep habits and effects on stress levels, physical tension, energy levels and well-being?
How your body feels when you wake up in the morning will reveal much about whether or not you are moving through life well.
Are you stiff, aching and lethargic?
... OR ...
Are you energized and easing into motion like a cat waking from a nap with a quick stretching pandiculation before being ready to pounce on whatever joy the day holds?
Have you noticed that throughout this inquiry around MOVEMENT there has been no mention of EXERCISE?
Exercise is a form of movement that is incredibly beneficial though not necessary for life.
You may be super "fit" and/or exercise daily yet still not be moving enough!
Additionally, the exercises you choose, the way you choose to exercise may be beneficial or detrimental to your physical well-being, longevity and quality of life.
That's right, I just said exercise can be detrimental. Don't use that as another excuse to MOVE less or not exercise!

The way you choose to move impacts your ability to move.
When you don't pay attention to how you're moving you become more likely to injure yourself.
This can be as simple as stubbing a toe, tripping and falling, or walking into a pole because you're busy scrolling social media.
Your body craves movement and requires movement frequency & variety to know how well you are moving through life.
The more feedback your body receives via movement the more efficiently it can begin to repair the impacts of the stresses you put your body through.
Get out of your head by tuning into your body.
Investigate how it feels to move slowly or off balance or in new and different ways.
Explore how moving can relieve the tension and stop holding your stress.
Play with giving yourself movement snacks throughout the day.
I'm always saying to my bodywork and movement health coaching clients:
"Use your movement!"
That is a reminder to move more throughout each day to relieve the accumulating tension and stress. To release into relief by moving!
Lift your head... raise your arms... circle your shoulders... shrug... wiggle... do a little dance!
Stop making it so complicated and JUST MOVE!

This week bring your attention to how much (how little) you move in your daily activity.
The #weeklychallenge in the Happier Healthier Humans group last week was about finishing the year strong with a physical activity goal to challenge yourself and move more so that you can move better, feel better, live better.
Tell me in the 💬comments that you are committed to moving more in more ways each and every day.

1yYes! We need to Question our assumptions. Are we playing into our beliefs about ourself? What if we change the narrative? And take age, for instance. We don’t get decrepit just because we age!! Most processes age quite nicely when in balance! It’s all pretty logical: when anything is overused, it’ll wear out. If anything is underutilized, it’ll atrophy. Exercise consistently but change it up and rest it, too, and a body will do quite well! Loaf during retirement, you’ll atrophy. Be a weekend warrior, you’ll likely be strained.

1yA, all for reducing or removing feeling stress. Movement and taking breaks to stretch and move around for a few minutes every few hours helps me to refocus. Not sure if that means I am less stressed, but I feel better
