Mr Dale W. Sisson, Jr., Named NSWCDD Technical Director

Congratulations to Mr. Dale W. Sisson, Jr., our new Technical Director!

As a King George County native and resident, Mr. Sisson is no stranger to Dahlgren, VA or NSWCDD as he has spent 21 years of his career in service to the organization. From his first appointment as a mechanical engineer working chem-bio detection systems to project and group leads, branch head, division head, deputy department head, department head, deputy technical director to now technical director, Mr. Sisson has quite literally worked at all levels within the command. He left dahlgren in 2018 to serve as the Executive Director of the Naval Ordnance Safety and Security Activity (NOSSA) and the Deputy for Weapons Safety, Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), Indian Head, MD.

Mr Sisson was appointed to the the Senior Executive Service in 2018 and holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Science in Systems Engineering, both from Virginia Tech. He is a graduate of the Federal Executive Institute and has been a Licensed Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia since 1998. Recognized for his contributions to the Navy’s development of laser weapons, Mr. Sisson was awarded the Department of the Navy’s Superior Civilian Service medal in May 2015. Prior to joining NSWCDD in 1997, he spent five years in industry as both a manufacturing engineer and product designer.
