My Summer Internship at Pacific Crest Design

As summer comes to an end and the fall semester starts to roll in, I started to look back on my time spent in the summer months. Over the past 10 weeks, I have had the privilege of being an IT intern at Pacific Crest Design. The company is an Architecture Firm located in Southern California, with a strong backbone of over 67 years of combined experience from leadership. I was asked to join the office on-site and from the very first day, I have gained valuable knowledge of working diligently and being on a working team. 

During my first few weeks as an IT intern, I learned the true complexity of computer hardware and software. One of the projects I worked on was with a team on coordinating the project planning for an IT server system. The server had to work in hand with an architectural BIM CAD software and the developers provided us with recommended configurations. So we had to merge the incoming systems to meet the performance requirements and monitor the information technology system to ensure the integrity of key components of the business workflow. This project and additional technical duties in support of troubleshooting, helped me widen my ability to problem solve technical issues. 

I also worked on research reports and providing logistical support with computer-based assignments. Writing thorough research reports were rewarding, they made me knowledgeable on distinct subjects. This allowed me to explain to others without difficulty. Providing logistical support was also a big part of my weekly tasks. I found that brainstorming aided in efficiently completing tasks.

Overall, my internship experience at Pacific Crest Design was joyful. I enjoyed doing meaningful work that impacted the business’ day-to-day procedures. Every day at the company was an opportunity to learn something new. The time working at the office in California was an unforgettable chapter in my life.
