My thoughts on 2018
For several years now i have always published a review on the last day of every year. This will be no exception.
In 2017 i had set as one of my goals to make our market more open to HR Marketing and Employer Branding and i think that was achieved to an extent. Obviously we still have a lot to go but there are more and more people interested on the subject and more companies investing in developing their own teams. Just look at the decision to hold the 2019 World Employer Branding Day in Lisbon, it is a clear statement of what i have just mentioned. Just before the end of the year i decided to develop a Slack Employer Branding Community to share articles, jobs, best practices and we have slowly been growing in numbers and participation. Professionally i had set the goal to develop an Employer Branding strategy for my employer that would allow us to attract and retain better while increasing the overall internal engagement. The results we achieved were far above any expectations i might have had and they led to the victory of the Portuguese Employer Branding Award managed by IIRH.
But it wasn't as simple as it might look, we also faced some hardship and i cannot express how proud i am of the way myself and my colleague Rosina managed them. It's in the hard times we see what we are made of and the strength of our team. From all we took from it i believe it truly increased our cohesion as a team.
I am so fortunate to work alongside the most amazing colleagues. This was a year of strengthening the professional bond with all of them. One word stands out above all the rest, trust. I strongly believe they are the best at what they do and they know i am there to help each and everyone of them succeed.
This year like the ones before it was all about human relations, honest and transparent. I throughly enjoy engaging, interacting, learning from people around me. I appreciate people that think differently because they are the ones that have the most to teach me. This year, an interaction with a colleague made me wonder through time to when i would go to the market with my grandmother and the amount of interactions we had with our neighbors. Those interactions made me who i am. They are the reason i do not look at people based on their age, gender or job title. To me every interaction is precious. Every time i was able to increase the drive, the satisfaction, the sense of belonging of a colleague, it made my day.
The future is yet to be written but my path is clearly set.
In 2019 my goals are to keep strengthening the Portuguese Employer Branding community, to help my company achieve its results with its people, to maintain and increase the bond of trust with my fellow colleagues and most and foremost to be happy!
