The Fleet APAC Advisory Board: pioneering the future

I recently had the privilege of being part of the inaugural Fleet APAC Advisory Board—a groundbreaking initiative shaping the trajectory of fleet management in the region. Comprising esteemed leaders from various sectors, the Advisory Board aims to provide strategic guidance and insights to fleet managers in the APAC region, cultivating a network for innovative solutions and sustainable ambitions. As a global player in sustainable mobility, Ayvens’ can provide key insights to the region with presence directly or through partners in 8 markets.

The current state of the APAC market

Throughout my career, I’ve already witnessed many changes in the sustainable mobility landscape in the region, and it’s always fascinated me. The landscape of regulatory frameworks is diverse in the region, as each nation has a unique set of incentives and policies, impacting the adoption of EVs differently. In addition, there is ongoing infrastructure development, consumer perceptions and how different cultures affect those and the various governmental initiatives – but all this leads into the rich collaboration opportunities that has the potential to fostering the growth of sustainable mobility.

The state of the APAC EV market was also captured in our recent edition of the Mobility Guide, which you can download here. It ranks countries based on their readiness to adopt EVs, and the scores of some of the countries are as follows;

  • Australia: 34/100
  • Japan: 48/100
  • Thailand: 40/100

These EV maturity scores reflect the challenges we collectively face in overcoming regulatory and infrastructural hurdles in accelerating fleet electrification in the region.

At today’s Fleet APAC expert meeting, I discussed the opportunities to cut CO2 in your fleets. These opportunities are not only about electrification that is not yet available everywhere across the region. However good practices on model selection, adoption of smaller engines with hybrid technology, fuel control and mileage moderation are as many initiatives as possible anyone can undertake in the region with positive impact on CO2 emissions.

Opportunities on the horizon

While challenges persist, I remain optimistic about the opportunities that lie ahead. There’s a future where technological advancements, supportive policies, and a growing awareness of environmental responsibility converge to propel low emissions mobility solutions and fleet electrification in Asia. For this to become reality, Ayvens and other industry players need to collectively work together to shape a sustainable future for mobility in the APAC region.
