NCTAP Signs 31 New Apprentices and Graduates 13 Apprentices in 2024

North Carolina Triangle Apprenticeship Program (NCTAP) is pleased to announce that thirty-one local students recently signed on as NCTAP apprentices and thirteen students graduated from their NCTAP apprenticeships with AAS degrees in Mechanical Engineering Technology or Automotive Service Technology. They also received their Journeyman Certificate from the NC Community College System and the US Department of Labor.

The NCTAP apprenticeship program successfully recruited the new apprentices as high school juniors and seniors from seven area counties. These students tried out during a paid summer pre apprenticeship work/study program. At the end of the summer, successful pre apprentices were invited to become apprentices based on the needs of the individual company. After the pre apprenticeship, apprentices who are still in high school attend high school half a day and work for their sponsor company half a day.

After graduating from high school, the apprentice works full time for their sponsor company while earning a degree at the community college. The apprenticeship period lasts four years. The NC Registered Apprenticeship program currently funds the community college degree.

NCTAP is made up of eleven member companies (Accu-Fab, Anderson Automotive, Brady Services, Buhler, Chapel Hill Tires, Crossroads Cars, Morris and Associates, SCHUNK, Schmalz, Siemens, and Superior Tooling) who have adopted a youth apprenticeship program designed to develop a highly trained workforce for their companies.

NCTAP is open to expanding the youth apprenticeship program to various industries in the Triangle area of North Carolina.

High school students, parents and local businesses are encouraged to visit www.nctap.org for more information about this program.

Please congratulate the following students:
