New Adventures… New Beginnings… Oh My!

Monday was the start of some new beginnings in our household. I have been thinking about these upcoming changes and reflecting how we arrived at this moment.

Our son, Joshua, started his first day of college. I remember there was a lot of negotiating in those early years of convincing him that school was important and he needed to ride the big yellow bus. And to watch him drive off to college on his own… willingly… well, (mic drop) I think his dad and I did a good job! (The photo is of him driving off to his new adventure!)

For me, this moment of new beginnings has been peeking its head around the corner for a while. I have finally decided to lay down my virtual assistant business, LHR Administrative Services. For 11 years I had the pleasure of meeting and working with hundreds of people. I am grateful for everyone that has supported me over the years. Thank you for following me on Facebook as well. I will be closing down the LHR Admin Services Facebook page on September 3, 2017. It is time for a new adventure for me. For us… Frank included.

My focus now is family caregiving; which actually has been a part of my whole life! The Serene Harbor is the new business that helps family caregivers. Frank and I especially work with married couples who are caregiving. Family caregiving can put a significant strain on a marriage; we know… we currently have been living this situation for many years. Many years! It can be a rough go at times but we decided that we had to do all we could to protect our marriage. We work as a team. Therefore, Married and Caregiving / Serene Marriage was born to help other couples with tips, tools, resources, and a place to vent and share their journey.

So, please join us on this new adventure! Connect with us. I invite you to join our Facebook pages and/or group:

Facebook.com/TheSereneHarbor

This is where you will find peace among the chaos of family caregiving. We want to provide information to all family caregivers no matter the stage you are experiencing. Is caregiving over for you? As a former family caregiving you can also find comfort here.

Facebook.com/MarriedandCaregiving

This will be a private group. A place for married couples who are in the family caregiver trenches and need a place to share the ups and downs, vent, and celebrate. Just like Vegas, what happens in the group, stays in the group! We are here to support each other. Ask to Join and I will get you in!

Facebook.com/MessengersForMarriage

A faith-based community for couples who believe in the sacrament of marriage. Prayers, inspiration and connections for married couples who choose to love each other, every day. Also a place to share your struggles and talk about how God is involved in your marriage.

Over the last several months I have been developing content, tools, tips and resources for people to get refreshment while family caregiving. These Facebook groups as well as the website, www.TheSereneHarbor.com, is where you can dock and spend time to recharge.

We have also partnered with Denise Brown and CareGiving.com. Denise’s 25+ years of work has made her a leader in the family caregiving industry. I encourage you to checkout her website at www.CareGiving.com. Denise has a wealth of information, including articles written by family caregivers, former family caregivers, and professionals who work with family caregivers. There are also daily chats to get connected with other family caregivers.

With Denise’s permission, we are starting a Married and Caregiving chat that will be hosted on Caregiving.com on the last Wednesday of each month at 7 pm ET (6 pm CT; 5 pm MT; 4 pm PT). Look for this to start on Wednesday, September 20!

Coming soon… BlogTalkRadio.com. We are in the process of creating a monthly radio show where we will interview other couples who are married and caregiving, as well as other guests who help married couples who are family caregivers. More information will be available in the coming weeks!

We look forward to seeing you in the Harbor!
