New Teacher Feature: Welcome Carolyn Ellis!

New Teacher Feature: Welcome Carolyn Ellis!

Hats off to the all wonderful teachers who make up the Norwich Public School District. These new-to-Norwich teachers joined our team during the 2021-2022 school year. Learn about your new colleagues and join us in celebrating their new role and welcoming them to the district!

Carolyn Ellis is a K-5 General Music, Band, and Chorus teacher at Samuel Huntington Elementary School. She is a southern Connecticut native and is excited to be back in the community for her first year teaching. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Florida Southern University in May 2020. She is also a Little Kids Rock certified teacher. Little Kids Rock is a charity in the United States that encourages and enables children to play popular music. They provide free music instruction and instruments to public school districts across the country.

Carolyn had a love of music and singing from a young age. She wanted to share that love for the arts with students so they could learn to love it as much as she does. Currently her Band and Chorus classes are preparing for upcoming concerts. Band is in the process of filming solos for a virtual Winter Concert, and Chorus is working on a Disney-themed Spring Concert.

In her free time, Carolyn enjoys spending time with her friends, trying new restaurants and honing her cooking skills at home, reading books and taking care of her cat.

Thank you Carolyn for choosing to share your love of music with the Norwich Public Schools community!
