New Tools to Help You Navigate the Great Reshuffle

New Tools to Help You Navigate the Great Reshuffle

The past year and a half has led many of you to rethink how and why you work. Since the start of the pandemic, more than half (59%) of people in the U.S. have experienced a career awakening: some looking for an entirely new role (33%), others pursuing a side hustle or passion project (34%) and many taking steps to learn something new in their existing role/company (30%), according to our recent survey*.

Not surprisingly, we’ve seen a record pace of people transitioning careers globally — up +50% from June through August on LinkedIn — and it doesn’t look to be slowing down anytime soon. Navigating this massive transition is a challenge, so we’ve launched new job tools to help job seekers, hiring managers -- and everyone in between.

With many of us working outside of the office, flexibility is top of mind. On LinkedIn, we’re seeing that job seekers are craving remote work. Of the global searches utilizing the new filters, 65% are for remote-only jobs, and according to global data from Glint, 87% of workers would prefer to stay remote at least half of the time.

To help you discover opportunities that match your preferences, we’re introducing filters for remote, hybrid and on-site roles within Job Search and the Open to Work feature on your Profile. On your Profile, simply set your preferences when turning on Open to Work, and let the right jobs come to you. Hiring managers can also use these filters to find you in LinkedIn Recruiter (learn more here).

You’ll also find these filters when you set up Job Alerts, which alert you via email or notifications about newly posted job openings that match your skill set, career goals, or the dream company you want to work for. Did you know that applying within the first 10 minutes of receiving a relevant job notification can increase your chances of hearing back by up to 4X?

Finally, you’ll now have access to information about a company’s policies on things like vaccination requirements and return-to-work benefits on their company Pages. Employers can highlight their workplace policy information at the top of their Home tab or in their about section to increase transparency, and activate their employees to share more about their workplace culture through new My Company Tab features.

The recent LinkedIn Workforce Confidence Index data shows that entrepreneurship is on the rise: more than half (51%) of professionals see themselves venturing out on their own for their next role. To help freelancers, contractors, creators, and small business owners, we’ve launched our Services Marketplace globally. You can set up your Service Page directly from your Profile, and manage all your projects, as well as promote your business’s specific skills and services.

Service Pages are also a great way to get discovered: more than 800M people can find you when they search for help with design, marketing and any other type of service. 82% of those who are hiring or have hired a freelancer or service provider say that getting a referral from someone in their professional network is the best way to find a good candidate. As someone who grew up in the southern states when segregation was in full force, I see a disturbing action happening. The special interest groups are promoting themselves and in doing so, they are isolating their group from the rest of the community. It will devide our society and cause friction between them. I taught high school in Toronto for twenty two years and I always treated everyone the same, it worked for the students all getting along together.

Just popping in to make a quick request - and I hope it will be a quick fix for you too! I have work and social connections both in the UK and in Greece - I guess you’d say I am a #digitalnomad - and yet you still want me to pick one single location on my profile, LinkedIn… I have had to leave my location blank because to pick one would misrepresent me and might lose me contacts and work. Please fix the profile settings so it’s possible for those of us with #international and #transnational lives to show this on your platform... There are growing numbers of us in this #digitalworld ! #conversationsforchange
