What is Web 5 which Jack Dorsey is Speaking About?
Still trying to figure out Web3? Well, stop doing that, since here comes Web5. Announced by Jack Dorsey's company TBD, it is being heralded as the new ‘future of the internet ’. Key difference from web3: Web 5 is built on the Bitcoin Blockchain, and will have no other native tokens.
Jack and TBD claim that it is the real “decentralized future that returns ownership and control over your finances, data, and identity”. Jack believes that VCs (read a16z ) are trying to own Web3 and, therefore, rob it of its decentralized ethos. Web5 is his answer to that, and he made that pretty clear in his announcement!
