ONE MONTH TO GO! The Psych Health and Safety Conference 2024

Register Now

The Psych Health and Safety Conference has been curated by the makers of The Psych Health and Safety Podcast as the best ever community gathering on the topic. Featuring international and local experts, industry case studies, thought provoking panels, and intimate interviews tackling globally relevant topics such as burnout, psychosocial risk management, the integrated approach to workplace mental health, and sexual harassment prevention.

The conference will be held at the 5-star Sofitel Wentworth Sydney between 19-20 June, and will provide plenty of opportunities to network with 400+ other professionals in attendance (or attend virtually). There are also two pre-conference optional masterclasses.

Read on to discover some of the highlights and how to register.

Less Than 20 Signed Books Remain!

The first 200 in person registrations receive Leiter and Maslach’s latest book ‘The Burnout Challenge’ (signed by Christina Maslach). Get your book signed by co-author Michael Leiter during a special book signing on day one of the event.

Burnout is among the most significant on-the-job risks facing workers today. It is also among the most misunderstood. In particular, we tend to characterize burnout as a personal issue - a problem employees should fix themselves by getting therapy, practicing relaxation techniques, or changing jobs. Christina Maslach and Michael P. Leiter show why this is not the case. Burnout also needs to be managed by the workplace. Citing a wealth of research data and drawing on illustrative anecdotes, The Burnout Challenge shows how organizations can change to promote sustainable productivity.

Engage With Presenters In-Person and Virtually

Designed as a hybrid (in-person and virtual) event, we are giving every participant an equal opportunity to engage with the amazing presenters. Ask questions via the Mentimeter app and upvote other participant questions with ease. Conference chair Liz Payne will ask the most popular questions voted for.

There will be plenty of in-person networking opportunities over morning/afternoon tea breaks, lunch and canapes/drinks (following day 1). We’ve also got networking covered for virtual attendees with MS Teams breakout rooms available during breaks in the agenda.

Conference Highlight Sessions

Every session at PHS Con is a keynote presentation (no concurrent sessions here!). As such, expect each to be its own highlight. However, these very special sessions are each worth attending as a standalone event!

Intimate Interview With Zagi Kozarov About the High Court Case

In 2022 Zagi Kozarov was successfully found to have been psychologically injured due to the negligence of her employer. This marked the end of a 10-year journey for justice that is precedent setting in many ways. Zagi will be interviewed by Catherine Dunlop of Maddocks lawyers to discuss the matter in detail.

Hand-Picked Case Studies From Industry

Featuring the likes of Westpac, Rio Tinto, Redcross Lifeblood, Aurizon and Qantas, hear directly from companies we know are doing well in particular aspects of psychological health and safety. Case studies will include a 25-minute presentation, followed by panel Q&As where company representatives will take questions from the audience.

Interviews With Psychological Health and Safety Leaders

Delegates attending PHS Con will get up close and personal with local and international experts in psychological health and safety including Marie Boland, David Burroughs and Dr I. David Daniels. They will be expertly interviewed on stage by safety and mental health leaders including Lucy Brogden AM, Dr Kat Page, and Wade Needham.

Amazing Fireside Chats

Specially curated for PHS Con, get ready for stimulating discussion with panels covering psych health and safety in the legal and higher education industries, a discussion with WHS regulators from three states, and a very special panel marking the 10-year anniversary of the ‘integrated model of workplace mental health’ with key authors Tony LaMontagne, Angela Martin and Kat Page.

Rewatch the Launch Webinar With Guests Angela Martin and David Burroughs

In November, Jason and Joelle from FlourishDx and the Psych Health and Safety podcast connected with PHS Con speakers Angela Martin and David Burroughs to discuss what attendees could expect at the first inaugural event.

They go through the agenda and discuss why each of the sessions will all be an amazing experience for the lucky delegates attending.
