#PalmSleepies: Reflections from our first company retreat

Last week, the Little Sleepies team traveled to Palm Springs for our first-ever company retreat. Our three-day retreat served as a time for our team to meet (many for the first time!), collaborate, brainstorm, and unwind. As a brand founded remotely, this event marked a huge milestone in our growth and a turning point as we thoughtfully embrace the balance between a hybrid and remote team with the opening of our Hollywood HQ earlier this year. And #PalmSleepies was everything we needed and more: fun, productive, and full of magical memories!

Each morning, teams could go for an optional group run (led by our resident run coach, Lindsay) or walk before enjoying a casual breakfast together, where brainstorming sessions immediately ensued over coffee. We also celebrated the hidden talents on our teams! Our marketing copywriter, Ilana, led a group yoga class, which left us feeling recharged and relaxed. And, during happy hour, we discovered some competitive spirit and skills playing corn hole!

It was in these moments of “downtime” that we found ourselves feeling the most inspired and connected with each other. And returning to work this week, we’re already seeing the in-person collaboration time pay off with more organic conversations over Zoom and Slack.

The balance between work and fun blended seamlessly as teams collaborated by the pool. Our product team hosted a brainstorming session, leaving the team energized and filled with excitement about what’s to come. We also loved seeing our social team in their element, creating content and recruiting extras for TikTok videos.

A Little Sleepies retreat wouldn’t be complete without pajamas, right? One of our print designers, Maddie, developed a custom print exclusively for our team featuring flamingos and palm leaves — perfect for the occasion! Our final evening in Palm Springs was the most amazing PJ party. We concluded the retreat in style with friendship bracelet making, Taylor Swift listening, and a few more TikTok videos you’ll have to give us a follow to see.

As we look back on last week, there’s nothing but happy memories, smiles, and a huge amount of gratitude for our incredible team. While we value flexibility and the benefits of working remotely, the in-person time we had together is something special that we’re embracing!
