Octarine (www.octarinebio.com), is a world-leading synthetic biology platform with a core mission to drive bio-based, sustainable solutions to address the most pressing planetary issues through innovation & exploration. The path to positive change is founded in our technical know-how. We excel in cell-factory engineering and precision fermentation. This enables us to design custom-made microbes producing a wide array of bio-based ingredients by fermentation. Our core program focuses on developing a new class of bio-based dyes to improve the environmental footprint of the textiles industry.

The position

We’re looking for an ambitious business development associate with commercial and business acumen who’s motivated by a high degree of responsibility and has a desire to make a positive impact in the world. As a member of the Octarine team, you will be working in close collaboration with our CEO and business development team on commercial, financial and operational tasks. This internship is a unique opportunity to experience first-hand the activity sets around building and operating a start-up. You will be expected to make a substantial contribution to the team, and you can expect to learn a lot on the job.

Your day-to-day tasks will vary but could include: supporting partnership development for our colors business, following up on leads with potential customers and investors, conducting market and industry research, updating revenue projections and business cases, updating competitor landscapes, preparing marketing material including press releases, organizing participation in events and exhibits, and supporting slide prep and other material for due diligence processes etc.

Who are we looking for

  • As a small company, we’re looking for an exceptionally talented individual who’s capable of working independently and isn’t afraid to take responsibilities.
  • You are a self-starter who gets things done with minimum supervision and can execute in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commercial and business-related education or scientific education with commercial acumen (preferably working experience but experience from your studies is also acceptable).
  • Interest in bio-solutions and synthetic biology
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and writing skills in English
  • Available for at least one year, ideally currently pursuing a graduate degree

This is a temporary paid part-time position; working hours are flexible; we expect you to be at Octarine HQ in Copenhagen at least once per week, starting date is ASAP.
