PIN pointing the Ministry-A High Five to Six Ministers
The UML-Maoist had declared about their unification before the election and the process is expected to be completed in span of couple of week time. The manifesto drafted by both of the parties mainly focused upon the stable government and the economic growth of the country over a long tenure.
The prediction was clear before the election that the communist allegation will win with majority against the Congress party who went in election without any grand manifesto. The strategy to talk and just to talk against communist ideology and nothing else from the leadership itself backfired the party . As a result once upon a time biggest party of nation, Nepali congress had to suffer a humiliating defect. The citizen of Nepal voted for the stable government, The stand K.P Oli took during the economic blockade helped the communist party earn the swinging population votes.
Now after the long debate and high drama of couple of month after the result of election, finally FormerPrime minister Sher Bahadur deuba vacated the Seat of Prime minister and Mr KP Oli took oath for the same from honorable President Miss Bidhya Devi Bhandari. The government has made clear from the selection of ministers that they are serious this time. The government has seemed to pinpoint the ministers with the role of the ministry they are offered.
The decision of selecting Lal Babu Pandit as minister of Population and health has been widely appreciated. Mr Pandit is known to be a very capable person which glimpse he has already shown during his tenure under Minister of General Administration. He is expected to bring some reforms in Health sector by ensuring effective formulation and implementation of plans n programmes in environmental sector.
The duty of minister for Ministry for Labour,employment,Women , Children and Social security has been assigned to only Women minister of the cabinet, Although we will have to wait to see how she will be able to handle the duty, it can be understood and agreed that the ministry of women should have been given to a women. Lets hope to see some strong achievements during her period in health sector.Nepali citizens will evaluate in coming days how she will be able to surplus the programs form former health minister Mr Gagan thapa.
The minister of Home Affairs have been given to one of the strong Commander of Nepal Communist Party(Maoist Center), Ram Bahadur Thapa(Badal). Mr Thapa is known to be bold in decision making .As he has ample experience about the security strategy and welfare of Security personals under his belt form Civil War, he is expected to be a key person for the post, It has been widely expected that the appointment of Mr Thapa for the position will enhance the bilateral relationship with neighboring country china and Nepal may gain higher benefit inn its internal security in coming year.
The present government is seen to be trying to make a balance in bilateral relation with both the neighboring country,The appointment of Mr Matrika prasad Yadav as minister for Industry, commerce and supplies will give a shy of relief for our Neighboring Country India, which will surely be seen trying to influence the government to be inclined to north. However it wont be a piece of cake for Mr yadav to handle the ministry, The manufacturing sector has only seen down fall over the years and to overturn the situation comes with challenge as well as scope . The expectations has been high as Mr yadav has promised to restart the closed units soon in coming days.
The ministry of Defense has been allocated to Mr Ishwor pokhrel, who is known to be most energetic and effective person in UML party. He is also the Party General Secretary of UML since 2009. Not only Citizens but the party itself has a great hope from Mr Pokhrel who is also expected to make a significant impact on Military enhancement and country security.
The biggest surprise came and in good flavor when the government decided to give the responsibility of Ministry of Finance to Mr Yube Raj Khatiwada,former Vice Chairman of National Planning Commission. The position is very ideal for Mr khatiwada as the ample experience during the vice to National Planning commission will help him make good reforms and help in budget allocations towards most strategic sectors.He has also served as a Governor of Nepal Rastrya Bank. The huge amount of experiences have set the bar high for Mr Khatiwada.
The government has so far been successful to pinpoint the positions with the ministers . It will be however interesting to see how the government will be successful to balance the bilateral relation with both neighboring countries . It also will be challenge for the government to bring the Madhesi Party(Rastrya Janamukti Party and Madhesi Jana Adhikar Forum)into consensus to include in the government. The balance of Power between the state and central government is yet to be successfully practiced. Nepali Citizens hope that all the issues will be sorted at the soonest and the promises made by the parties through their manifesto shall be fulfilled.
