Pleasure before business

Pleasure before business

Pleasure before business

CPHI takes place next week: “mix with the world of pharma products, people & solutions

That’s the opportunity CPHI offers according to its home page.  And that’s why I go… every year: to “mix”.  Mixing is a pleasure and I love it!

But that’s not what my boss would want to hear – he would want to hear I went there and found new business opportunities for the company.  And I might… serendipitously.

However, for many in the generics industry, CPHI is the place to find products, distribution partners etc.  How many companies will be handing out their product lists hoping it falls into the hands of someone who might be interested?  I know, it’s crazy – travel halfway across the world to hand out a glossy A4 piece of paper with a list of products that will be out of date next month?  And please don’t get me started on sustainability. There must be a better way!

I certainly don’t underestimate the value of real-life face to face meetings when you want to develop a business relationship – I’m very much old school in that regard.  But ideally, I want to know what’s on that piece of paper before I get there so that I can determine who I meet and for what purpose – I think it’s called “efficiency”.

So, I will be there and hope to meet lots of old friends, make some new ones, and continue existing business discussions and maybe, just maybe, find something new for my company.  That’s if I can hear the sweet song of a perfect opportunity above the joyous cacophony that accompanies the melting pot of CPHI.

Anyway, see you next week and I’m looking forward to “mixing” (business with pleasure)!

PS There is a better way: data democratisation.  A few friends and I have been working on something exciting for a little while now.  We sincerely hope to help make next year’s CPHI and similar events much more efficient for your business development and, for my boss, move a little to redress the balance of business and pleasure! www.go-nucleo.com
