The Post-production Process
I'll pick up this story from the moment we finished our day of filming the Urban Street Soccer.
We left the site with complete satisfaction of what was accomplished. Our minds are still buzzing from the bombardment of new ideas and energy exchanged.
All the work up until this point has been conceptualization and imagination. Nothing is really concrete yet. Everyone is thinking, "I can't wait to see what this looks like!"
I too, am curious in the shape that will merge from this project. A video editor with a full hard drive is no different than a sculptor with a chisel and a uncut block.
Post-production is one of my favorite phases in the process because it gives me a sense of creative freedom. First, I sift through all the raw footage and cut out the golden nuggets. I want the video to shine so it's important to get rid of all the fluff.
Once the nuggets have been collected, I begin molding and sequencing the video until I arrive at a first draft.
This is an essential deliverable.
The first draft is something tangible that we can see and feel. We take notes, then make improvements.
First Draft
Sample of notes:
Colors are inconsistent, could be faster, how about some meaningful text?
Over an iterative approach, the video begins to transform into its final form that's PR approved and ready for the world to see!
