Pride

Pride

Every year, Pride is a time of celebration across Capita, but for the second time, due to Covid-19 restrictions, colleagues have been unable to mark the occasion together in our offices.

Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, I have been struck by the passion and creativity of our colleagues’ efforts to celebrate Pride and get others across our business involved.

I am proud of the way in which teams have used our digital channels to celebrate, some taking simple steps, including changing their Teams backgrounds and email signatures, while others have been sharing posts on Yammer dressed up in their Pride gear.

Pride is all about celebrating diversity, encouraging conversation and reminding the world that there is still a long way to go to achieve sexual orientation and gender identity equality. Our business is committed to creating an environment and culture that reflects the communities we serve and ensures that no person feels excluded, but we know there is always more we can do.

With over 55,000 colleagues around the world, we have a wide range of thoughts, beliefs and ideas that help us deliver on our purpose – to create better outcomes for our clients, our people and society.

We want to celebrate difference, raise awareness of key issues, and to make sure we’re always learning from, listening to and incorporating diversity of thought into everything we do. This is a continuous process for us, and includes ensuring the needs of our LGBTQ+ colleagues are reflected in our policies, procedures and ways of working.

I hope that, by this time next year, I can reflect back on another period of positive change to ensure our business is more inclusive and, pandemic restrictions allowing, we will all be able to mark Pride together in person.
