Megan Esmond, AC Marketing Director, UK & Ireland

1. Tell us more about yourself:

I am the Marketing Director for AC UK & Ireland, and I live in Leeds, West Yorkshire.

I am a real ‘foodie’, and I love exploring the diverse restaurant scene in Leeds. I am an avid traveler who enjoys visiting remote destinations to experience different cultures and landscapes. This blend of professional dedication and personal passions shapes who I am and influences my approach to life and work.

2. Why is Pride so important to you, and how will you be celebrating Pride month?

Pride is crucial to me because it represents a celebration of the progress made toward equality and an opportunity to raise awareness about the ongoing struggles faced by the LGBTQ+ community. It’s a time to reflect on the journey towards inclusivity and to celebrate the diversity within our society. During Pride month, I will be taking time out to celebrate with friends, colleagues, and family.

3. What motivated you to join the LGBTQ+ ERN, and why should others consider joining?

I joined the LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Network (ERN) to show my support as an ally and to promote inclusivity within PPG. It was also a personal mission to understand and learn more about the experiences of my colleagues in the LGBTQ+ community. Hearing their inspiring stories has enriched my perspective and reinforced the importance of advocacy.

I encourage others to join this ERN to broaden their understanding, foster an inclusive environment, and contribute to positive change within the workplace and beyond.

4. What can allies do to support the LGBTQ+ community?

As allies, it’s important to be open-minded and encourage diverse perspectives and viewpoints. Demonstrating allyship visibly, such as participating in events like Leeds Pride.

Actions like using inclusive language and being a supportive friend or colleague can significantly impact creating a more accepting and supportive community.
