Project Flashback: The Art Institutes Bachelors Programs
The Art Institutes were a collection of private art schools created in 1969 by Education Management Corporation. In 2000, they embarked on moving from Associates degree offerings to 4 year Bachelors programs across the country on 20 campuses. Kyle Farley and his team at Successful Images were tasked with producing introductory videos for several of the new programs. Used extensively throughout the United States these videos won several industry awards including Aurora Gold an Telly Platinum.
They included Multimedia, Industrial design, Interior Design, Computer Animation and Graphic Design. Shot over the course of 2 months these videos featured student interviews, faculty interviews, college facility footage, original narration and eye-popping graphics.
Scripts were written featuring program highlights and the videos were shot at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale in Florida. The series was produced by Kyle Farley and AiFL alumni Rhonda Ritchie, Ruchel Louis, Sergio Gonzalez, Jamie Marcotte and Brad Gibson who made up the Successful Images production team.
The series was created in Digital-S format in standard definition, the industry standard at the time. It is fun to see how much has changed in technological approaches but remains the same in creative content marketing.
Kyle Farley continues his connection to the Art Institutes as a faculty member at Miami International University of Art & Design, one of eight campuses run by Education Principle Foundation. Areas of study including graphic design, media arts and animation, culinary arts, photography, digital filmmaking and video production, interior design, audio production, fashion design, game art and design, baking and pastry, and fashion marketing.
