Purpose Inspired - March 2023
Everyday Inspiration (new book)
Philosophy for Daily Living
Everyday Inspiration - my 43rd book, hot off the press - is a collection of philosophical prose on the art of daily living, where each page contains a reflection on a different topic. It is a celebration of the wonder of life - its magical moments and meaningful mysteries, its powerful purpose and perplexing paradoxes. In bite-size portions of inspiration, you can enjoy a feast of ideas on subjects like art and ageing, books and beginnings, dreaming and dignity, flowers and friendship, love and loss, radicals and responsibility, success and silence, travel and touch. Every page is a new window on the worlds without and within.
Thoughts on Thriving

If you're following along, on the second page of the chapter on hope, I talk about how I nearly drowned in Sodwana, a bay just off the coast of South Africa. And the point I want to make here is that I was warned of the risks of swimming at this beach. In fact, there was a sign that warned of four risks: hippopotami, crocodiles, sharks, and a strong current ...
#3: Panic. Cleantech. Hope.
What I'd like to reflect on today, coming from page three of the chapter on hope in my book Thriving, is to think about panic. When I reflect on nearly drowning off the coast of South Africa, I realize that probably what would have killed us was not the waves, was not the current, the rip tide, but was the fact that we started to panic. And I think this is really relevant for the global challenges that we face, especially if we look back at the last year, with the Russian war in Ukraine, the scramble for fossil fuels ...
