Raising a Team of Passionate Leaders
There probably isn't anyone out there in a managerial role who doesn't wish for a team that works amazingly well together, is skilled and passionate, intrinsically motivated, and believes in the bigger mission of their company.
A team like that might sound like something that should take years in the making, or it may flat out sound too good to be true to you. But for Azuraye Wycoff, visionary leader, and regenerative farmer, returning to her family’s farm after starting her own company 2,000 miles away, bringing a group of people together to restore and transform it into what it is today, that vision isn't as far-fetched as it seems.
Like many of us, over these last few, wildly-disruptive years, Azuraye discovered a new calling and fresh perspective on life, fueled in part not just by the pandemic, but by a raging wildfire that reconnected her with a sense of meaning and devotion. It’s been a journey that's taken her from building a moving company in Boston back to a farm in Colorado with a vision to not just reinvent the farm, but also build a revolutionary model for business, community, and impact along the way. Today, we dive into Azuraye's journey to leading a major process of renewal and change across two companies she spearheads—one in Boston and now Yellow Barn Farm in Boulder—in a new SPARKED Podcast segment we’re introducing to the rotation called SPARKED Stories.
In this segment, we'll spotlight the experience of one person and explore how they've built a living and life that honors, celebrates, and centers the parts of themselves that truly make them, their work, and—this week—their teammates come alive. So together, Azuraye and I uncover what drives her in this new chapter of work and life and take a closer look at the ways her Sparketype profile has informed her processes at work, the way she leads, and helped her team discover what sparks them too and come more fully alive.
