Razor Digital Media Increases Head Count as it Experiences Further Growth at One Year in Business Milestone

Aberdeen-based digital marketing firm, Razor Digital Media, celebrated one year of success in August and has announced steady growth leading to the appointment of a new team member.

The business, which initially supplied digital display screens, added website design services including town centre and property management platforms, ecommerce solutions and affordable pay-monthly options at the beginning of 2020. As it passes its first big milestone, a number of key contract wins has enabled Razor Digital Media to retain a work placement student on a long-term basis.

Company Director, Ian MacIntosh explains how a temporary role evolved into an apprenticeship training position, “We were approached by Aberdeenshire Council to offer a part-time work experience placement through a scheme that matches young adults with suitable firms within their preferred sector. We jumped at the chance to influence and encourage the next generation of marketers and an extra pair of hands is always welcome.

“Brendan joined Razor Digital Media at the beginning of March for a 16 week placement and immediately impressed us with his enthusiasm and aptitude. Our business has experienced steady growth throughout the first half of 2020 despite the challenges of the global pandemic, and a number of new projects meant we were ready to expand our team.”

The apprenticeship scheme will enable Brendan to undertake an SQA in Digital Marketing while gaining invaluable experience in the industry. Mr MacIntosh hopes that he will remain with the company when his training is complete and is already in discussions with Aberdeenshire Council about offering a similar opportunity to a Business Administration student.

Fraser Mitchell, Work Placement Officer at Aberdeenshire Council said, “The Digital Works programme in which Brendan participated is designed to give young people in Aberdeenshire the skills and experience required to find a job. Given that Brendan had expressed a desire to work in web design, the Digital Works team were very happy when Razor Digital Media became involved. Ian MacIntosh was very enthusiastic and put together a great package for Brendan which was amended to allow remote working when the Covid-19 lockdown started.

“The apprenticeship which was offered to Brendan was an excellent outcome following his paid work placement and was exactly what we were looking for. We hope to work with Ian and Razor Digital Media again in the future.

Razor Digital Media’s internet marketing services are designed to be an affordable option to combat social media headaches, and the pay monthly websites are a cost effective way for businesses to get a new or redeveloped website without having to pay a large upfront cost.
