The Real Impact of Continued Education in Business

The Real Impact of Continued Education in Business

Hey everyone,

I’m excited to share some insights from Episode 2 of Into the Black, where I explored the importance of continued education in business. This topic is more than just a checkbox for me—it’s been a lifeline, a challenge, and a triumph all wrapped into one.

My journey through education hasn’t been smooth or straightforward. I’ve faced my share of struggles, from bouncing between colleges to feeling lost and uncertain about my path. Traditional education didn’t fit me well—I tried the four-year college route twice and couldn’t make it stick. But here’s the thing: not fitting into the mold doesn’t mean you can’t succeed.

I eventually found my way through alternative educational paths, like online certifications and specialized courses that align with my passions. For example, I recently completed a certification in Managing Marketing for Hospitality and Tourism from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University through edX. It wasn’t easy—I was juggling deadlines while recovering from COVID—but I pushed through. The result? I was named one of the top students in the class, a recognition that reminded me why I keep pushing myself to learn and grow.

Here’s what I covered in this episode:

  1. My Unconventional Education Path: I talked about how I struggled with traditional college education, bouncing from one school to another, and ultimately finding my footing in non-traditional education routes. These experiences taught me that there isn’t just one way to succeed—you can carve your own path.
  2. Why Continued Education Matters: In the world of digital marketing and business, change is the only constant. Staying on top of new trends, tools, and strategies isn’t just beneficial—it’s necessary. I shared how continuing to educate myself has kept me competitive in a field that evolves rapidly.
  3. Balancing Creativity and Learning: I’m a creative at heart, and education has been a way to channel that creativity into something tangible. From creating custom WordPress sites to developing social media strategies, continued education has given me the tools to turn my creative ideas into real-world success.

But it hasn’t been all wins. There were times when I felt overwhelmed by the sheer amount of work, especially when balancing family life with my drive to grow professionally. There were days I questioned if it was all worth it—whether the certifications, the late-night studying, the constant hustle would pay off. But each time I completed a course or earned a new certification, it was a triumph—a reminder that I’m capable of more than I sometimes give myself credit for.

Education isn’t just about gaining knowledge; it’s about proving to yourself that you can tackle challenges head-on and come out stronger on the other side. It’s about staying relevant in an ever-changing field and continuing to push your limits.

If you’re feeling stuck or uncertain about your path, or if you’re just curious about how continued education can impact your business, I invite you to listen to the full episode.

Whether you’re just starting out or you’ve been in the game for years, there’s always more to learn. Let’s keep pushing forward, breaking the mold, and creating our own success stories.

Stay driven and keep learning.
