RECOTECH speaker: Morten Kjer Jeppesen

RECOTECH speaker: Morten Kjer Jeppesen

How can cities work better for humans? That question has been the underlying theme of the career of urban planner and RecoTech 2022 speaker Morten Kjer Jeppesen .

Morten is joining our panel of high-calibre presenters at this year’s RecoTech event on 16 November in Helsinki. His presentation will focus on being “United in Responsibility.”

As organizers, we couldn’t have asked for a more qualified and experienced speaker in the field. Today, Morten heads up to Northern Europe Design Team at Gehl - Making Cities for People , where he is responsible for urban planning projects. His remit ranges from creating a vision and a strategic plan for the company’s projects all the way to master planning frameworks, urban design, and landscape projects for public and private clients.

Whilst Morten’s and Gehl’s projects can vary widely, all of them have one thing in common. They are aiming to create sustainable cities that improve the quality of life of those living in them, for example by increasing health equity. Morten is also driven by an ambition to build urban landscapes that have a positive impact on climate change not only for their current inhabitants but also for future generations.

It's a tall task, for sure, but like many of the speakers at RecoTech 2022, Morten believes it is essential to drive our cities toward sustainability. Aside from his work at Gehl, Morten is part of the faculty and the corps of examiners at the Royal Danish Academy, where he shares his passion with the next generation of urban planners.

All his teaching, research, and project work have been strongly influenced by the question of how urban developments will influence the humans that inhabit these spaces. If you’d like to hear more and talk to Morten about his work, join us at RecoTech 2022 in Helsinki!
