Reflecting on Cohere’s 2024 KLAS Award

Reflecting on Cohere’s 2024 KLAS Award

Cohere Health recently received KLAS Research ’s 2024 Points of Light Award for collaborating with our health plan and provider partners to reduce costs and inefficiencies and improve patient, provider, and payer experiences.

This marks the third consecutive year we received this honor and had an in-depth case study about our partnership featured in KLAS’ Points of Light Report. The awards and annual report bolster KLAS’ K2 Collaborative (formerly Payer/Provider Initiative), the goal of which is to “reduce friction and waste by facilitating trust, collaboration, and alignment between payers, providers, and HIT vendors.”

As VP of Clinical Programs, I’m proud to have worked closely with Cohere’s partners on our episodic authorization pilot, which was the focus of this year’s case study. I was grateful for the opportunity to speak with KLAS as they developed the report and offer insights on the program. Our health plan and provider partners were also asked to share their feedback and successes for the case study.

The report, Celebrating Payer & Provider Partnerships That Enhance Healthcare Outcomes, highlights 22 successful partnerships, including Cohere’s. Let’s explore the case study below.

In KLAS’ latest case study, we had the opportunity to demonstrate how episodic authorizations are reducing duplicative administrative work and delays in care to further streamline prior authorization.

Episodic authorizations allow providers to bundle multiple related prior authorizations into a single transaction, based on a sequence of services identified as clinically optimal for a given patient’s care. This unique capability is paired with automated outbound communications from the health plan to inform care teams and patients about pre-approved authorizations.

My colleague, Traci Granston, MD, MBA , VP of Clinical Strategy, recently wrote a blog announcing the KLAS award and diving into more detail about the pilot and its impact on patient care and outcomes.
