Rerouted: a 48 Hour Film

At first glance, creating a 7 minute film in 48 hours seems like it would be an impossible task. But with a team of 19 talented people, you can easily make a film everyone can be proud of!

For Team "Queer Cuts" at this year's DC 48 Hour Film Challenge, we were presented with a character name (Margarite), occupation (airline employee), genre (Slice of Life/Romance), prop (a lock), and line (I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed) at friday's 7 p.m. kickoff event. From there, we were off to the races to create a film including those elements.

24 hours later we were wrapping principal photography on Rerouted, a film about missed flights and new connections.

My role on the project was as Team Lead and Director of Photography.

The challenges that came with such a tight time crunch were handled with incredible ease by our team. From starting the shoot day with a power outage, to entering post production with audio recording issues we needed to correct, the team pushed through and created a solid project.

I would share more, but our film premieres at the DC 48 Hour Film Screening on May 17. You'll just have to come see it for yourself!

It was such a blast making a film with such a creatively talented team. This film was collaborated on by an incredible cast and crew, including:

...... and many more!

More updates to come.

I'm so happy to have been a small part of this project! I can't wait to see the culmination of everyone's hard work later this month at the festival.
