“Restart Expo” Represents the Starting Point of Exhibitions Return

The success industry has methods and causes, the most important of which is catching innovative ideas that attract the attention of the target, promote the desired product, and engrave the name of its owner in the record of successful people.

This is certainly the case of Specialized Exhibitions company, which has recently organized in South Africa the "Restart Expo", an exhibition that is concerned with showing how exhibitions can be established and how to launch their events safely while maintaining all the health and safety protocols required regarding Coronavirus.

South Africa, for those who do not know, is a country which seizes the top rank on the continent in the field of organizing exhibitions. Besides, it is one of the countries which considers the exhibition industry a very important industry.

The aforementioned exhibition will take place at the end of this month from 25 to 26 November at the Johannesburg Exhibition Center in the city of Nasser. The exhibition will host, in addition to the exhibitors' pavilions, a theater for seminars, a meeting area and a business hall.

The Restart Expo is supported by the Association of African Exhibition Organizers (AAXO), the SA Events Council and its members, and UFI - the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry. The exhibition will be attended by the Minister of Tourism and several government officials.

This exhibition has no commercial objectives. Rather, it is a non-commercial event in which every contractor participates without generating any revenue, and about 30 exhibitors representing industry suppliers will participate in it.

This exhibition is held to build confidence that an event of this kind can take place safely and that protocols can be applied and disseminated across exhibitions, conferences and events. Indeed, this can be achieved through registering online, wearing face coverings, providing stations for hand cleansing, ensuring social distancing and examining temperature at a certain entrance, so that going to the exhibition and event is as safe as anywhere you go. Thus, this strict adherence to all required protocols will ensure the safety.

This dispels the myth that exhibitions cannot be held during the pandemic, as long as there is strict adherence to the protocol and prevention methods, and clarifying to the government officials that exhibitions and events are organized gatherings.

The event is held after exhibitions and events in South Africa were neglected since the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic, as the organizers feared that this neglect would extend into 2021, said Projeni Pather, Chairman of AAXO. He added, “We are grouped into the same category as mass gatherings, as the current limit of 250 people allowed in halls limits our interaction; This capacity limit is not financially applicable to exhibition organizers. We firmly believe that the Restart Expo can show the government the difference between mass gatherings and business events.”
