Regardless of the proliferation of distributed energy resources and utility price hikes, utilities aren't going anywhere. There will forever be a need for centralized, dispatchable, fossil or nuclear-based generation. The question is, how can utilities update their operating model in order to compete against new entrants rather than simply remain afloat?
